Learning to Lead, leading your team to greatness

Having working with more than 300 international companies previously as Management consultant, and last 7 years as Team & leadership coach, What I learnt was :

+ Leaders have tremendous impact and influence in how their teams behave

+ Companies that survive crisis and thrive, are often companies that have strong leadership team.

+ Strong leadership team often does not happen ''by chance'' or in 1 day, it is process of building strong team

+ Leadership team also goes through difference development stages, up and down like a ''regular'' team

+ "Leading'' is skill that can be learnt.

If a person has the leader charisma by nature, it can helps gearing up the skills.

But if she/he does'nt learn to lead, it wont help to become great leader.

==> This is often the missing piece in organisation in helping good manager becoming great leader.

For a (any) Team to become high performance team and together achieve greatness, it needs its Team Leaders to Grow as well.

In my work, one of the model I use to help my Team Leaders to grow in Leading is Situational Leadership.

It is proven model created by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard, developed while working on Management of Organizational Behavior.

The fundamental principle of the situational leadership model is that there is no single "best" style of leadership. Effective leadership is task-relevant, and the most successful leaders are those who adapt their leadership style to the performance readiness (ability and willingness) of the individual or group they are attempting to lead or influence.

Effective leadership varies, not only with the person or group that is being influenced, but it also depends on the task, job, or function that needs to be accomplished.

Question:

+ How have you been practicing Situational Leadership in Your work? (with or without knowing about it)

+ Which Positive Influence did you see as result of practicing leadership situationally?
